OUR STORY
The idea probably came after hearing yet another brotherly banter about which of my twin sons “would totally dominate” while watching our weekly episode of American Ninja Warrior Junior. My sons have been involved with Ninja House since the start in 2019, from obstacle ideas, picking out vinyl colors, and even deciding on the name of the business.
But there was a lot of adult work to do before picking out colors, and that was up to me. I quickly learned that most of the Ninja House vision would have to be engineered and fabricated ourselves. As a mechanical engineering grad, I was already skilled in the design process, however, the sheer scale of the project would prove to be overwhelming.
I am always up for a challenge, but working full-time in oil and gas during the week only left the weekends to build the business, and even our weekends were often slammed with sporting events and other obligations. Nonetheless, I found lots of time to begin market research and eventually started funding the business. While the COVID pandemic helped free up our weekends as extracurriculars ceased to exist, it made simple business very difficult to conduct. The sobering truth is that while a lot of vendors struggled to survive as a result of the lockdown, some would go under while others couldn’t produce anything within a reasonable amount of time. Regardless, with the encouragement from friends and family behind me, I pivoted and found alternatives all along the way.
After countless late nights and dead ends in the garage, my sons and I were thrilled to unveil Ninja House on May 1, 2021.
So, if you’ve ever passed my office at Second Story Coworking in the last year and thought, “What are those strange drawings on the whiteboard?” or “Why are there a bunch of ropes on the floor?”, hopefully, this clears it up!
In fact, Ninja House began to take shape right in that Second Story office, and that’s pretty cool. Be on the lookout for us @ninjahousetx, we’re just getting started.
